Marble Bridge, Copenhagen.
From Wikipedia:
“The marble bridge is an arch bridge in extension of Ny Vestergade / Dante’s Square and leads across Frederiksholm’s Canal to Christiansborg Ridebane between two pavilions. It was built in the years 1739-1745 with Nicolai Eigtved as the principal architect. It was originally the main entrance to the castle and should therefore impress the visitors of the castle. The bridge is covered in sandstone with medallion carvings by the sculptor Louis-Augustin le Clerc and is covered with Norwegian marble.”
Why is it called a marble bridge?
